In late 1983 or early 1984, Amnesty International put on a concert.  Peter Gabriel was one of the lead acts for that concert.  I was listening to the concert live when Peter Gabriel hit the stage.  I still remember the words he said:

"I would like to dedicate this song to all of the people on Death Row in the United States," and he proceeded to sing the song "Red Rain."  To follow are the words to that song, and after a live recording by Peter Gabriel, Natalie Merchant and Michael Stipe of REM:
